You're about two pints away from being a full-fledged Drunkard. So in order to finish processing your application we just need a few details...
1. Your MSN identity, if I don't already have your MSN details then I need you to go get it, either that or Xfire.
2. Download Ventrilo version 3
Ventrilo is a voice chat program we use to speak to one another while in-game.
The details for Vent are likely to change from time to time to so check official Ventrilo thread in this forum.
3. Also go register for the DIC forums on our website in the forum area, this will give you public access only, it's after you post an Introduction Letter that someone can grant you full membership access to our forums.
For the moment feel free to post within our public forum as we process your application. Register for forum access first, then go ahead and make your first post in the forum, please introduce yourself, we want to get to know you right away. The more you post and are active the more we will get to know you.
A little about who we are…
The clan was formed in August 2003 by BIRD & Straka after they both left *AUS* after being there for almost a year to create our own community of like minded gamers. The clan is managed by a series of community appointed Clan Founders & Administrators. Typically the clan makes decisions as a group but in some cases the senior members make choices for the community in order to keep and to maintain our Drunkard ideals. The clan is led by Straka who exists more so as our deity. You may refer to his holiness as Strakallah. lol. Other community leaders include: Ironside, Cannon Fodder, Rookie, Bgrade, Minor_69her plus many more long time serving Drunkards.
When joining |-DIC-| you’re joining a clan that plays heaps of games, though not all games we play are competitive.
At the moment we play Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty World at War, Company of Heroes & some of us belong to guilds in both Aion and also World of Warcraft.
We have previously played games such as - Battlefield 2, Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, Desert Combat, Joint Operations, Call of Duty, Call of Duty: United Offensive, Call of Duty 2, Counter Strike Source, Day of Defeat: Source, Rfactor, Team Fortress 2.
What is being a Drunkard all about…
Being a Drunkard means that you will not be joining into a clan that is completely driven to the “We must every game” attitude. It’s just not the clan we wanted to create when we started out. The Drunken ideals made upon foundation are that, "Your mates in the clan/ community come before anything else. Be that victory or loss, we play together for fun". With these two foundation policies in place we have found that this works well in our community. Playing together as mates and for fun develops a relaxed stress-less feeling amongst our members. What naturally ensues is that these values we are promoting means that over time a true “Drunkard” will put the onus back on themselves to uphold these beliefs.
For example, You would’nt let your mate down and that feeling definitely carries over into our ladder competition games, which in-turn makes people play more thoughtfully and as a result we do win more than not. We take things as serious as they need to. We're more about having fun and having a few laughs with our mates. Win or Lose, playing in this game or another, the friends you make here in this clan will be there for you as our on-line games culture takes us forward.

As the |-DIC-| community grows we will also accommodate for new teams as new game titles are released. We encourage and support our members in building new teams. It is one of our core beliefs to grow our community as more on-line games are developed. We will create new teams for the benefit of our members. All members have the opportunity to create and lead new teams, all you need to do is to have the leadership qualities to create, recruit and manage a team and fill it with new or existing members. *We would prefer you fill the team with at least 50% new recruits.
Membership in |-DIC-| - What are the requirements?
You must be at least 17 years old to join DIC. We don't usually enforce this ruling but as they say "times change". There are plenty of reasons, too many to list here, so I won't go into all of them except to say the clan has very good reasons based on past instances and this is what the members have requested. Naturally, there have been a few exceptions to the rule where an applicant has demonstrated the makings of what we call a "true drunkard".
Trialing for |-DIC-|
With so many new games coming out and so many people becoming Drunkards, we do feel it's necessary to impose a 2 week recruitment period.
During this time you'll work out for yourself whether we are the right clan for you, or not.
Initially when you first join up one of the recruitment officers will make sure you know everything you need to know about the clan and make sure you have all the basic equipment.
Attendance Requirements
Attendance is very important to us.
The more we get to know you the more apart of the community you'll feel.
We discourage "moonlighting", which implies ppl who wear the tag but don't actually participate.
We do however promote you bringing along your mates to our nightly games whether they are in another clan or not.
And remember if you need to take time off just let us know as we're very flexible, after all it's just games and good people.
But....Go AWOL and you may find that upon your return that your forum rights revoked and you will have to trial all over again.
Community Treasure Chest
While not complusory we do encourage members whenever they can to drop a few bucks into the clan account.
This pays for website hosting and the day to day costs of running the site as well as paying for Ventrilo.
If you can donate thats great otherwise no hassle.
Tools we use...
Please download MSN and or Xfire if you don't have it already, this is an essential form of communication that we use to alert members of our clan activities. Oh and do read the forums, daily if possible to stay in touch with your teams various activites.
While in-game we also use Ventrilo. If you don't already know, Ventrilo like Teamspeak or Roger Wilco which are programs which enables a player to talk to another while in game.
Now what to do first?
Ok spot check, get these things done first prior to making further contact.
1. Get MSN or Xfire
2. Sign up for the forums and make a post introducing yourself.
3. Download Ventrilo
Well that’s it, from what you've read in this welcome letter you should know what to do next. But if you run into any strife just post here in the Bootcamp section of the forums and you'll soon by replied to by another Drunkard.
DIC has got to be the easiest clan to join I’ve ever seen.
